What is Instant PAN through Aadhaar?

The Income Tax Department, Govt of India has introduced the facility for instant allotment of Permanent Account Number (PAN). This facility is available for PAN applicants who has a valid Aadhaar number and have a mobile number registered with Aadhaar.

The PAN allotment process is paperless and Electronic PAN (e-PAN) is issued to the applicants FREE OF COST. 

How to apply Instant PAN through Aadhaar?

The applicant should have a valid Aadhaar number registered with a valid mobile number to get an ePAN.

  1. Make an application through Income Tax Portal for Instant PAN through Aadhaar
  2. Submit the OTP received on your Aadhaar registered mobile number.
  3. On successful submission, you will get a 15-digit acknowledgment number.
  4. You can check the Instant PAN Status with 15-digit acknowledgment number.
  5. Once allotted, e-PAN will be sent to you the registered email id.
  6. e-PAN can be downloaded for future reference.

A person is required to hold a Permanent Account Number (PAN) for various purposes like opening bank account, starting a Company or LLP, filing the income tax returns, doing certain financial transactions etc.
